Emerald for various Ascendants
Aries: Lord of 3rd and 6th houses Mercury is not an auspicious planet. it is never a Yogi planet but may create a yoga if placed in 11th house along with Sun and Venus. When Saturn is posited in 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11and it is in the major period of Saturn itself that one may use Neelam. Saturn in the 10th house creates “Sasa Yoga” and here the use is most suggestible. However, as such in other periods other gems are useful.

Taurus: YogaKaraka Saturn also becomes more beneficial when in the stars of Saturn and Rahu. Neelam is a most useful gem for these natives irrespective of periods.

Gemini: Lord of trikona also rules 8th. It never becomes yogi in any star. As such a trikona lord is always suspicious and more over its mooltrikona sign is placed in 9th itself but here Saturn is an exception though it is not malefic but it is indifferent. An Introduction of Gems

There are many gems available, those that are either precious or semiprecious according to their cost. In the Vedic astrology only nine major gems are taken as primary or major gemstones and they are known as Navratans. They include ruby, Pearl, Red Coral, Emerald, Yellow Sapphire, Diamond, Blue Sapphire, Hessonite and Cat’s Eye. Every gemstone is ruled by a major planet mentioned in Hindu astrology .

The wavelengths absorbed by the gemstone is mainly determined by specific gravity and refractive index. These physical properties also decide whether the gem is real or fake.

Virgo: Lord of 2nd and 9th houses, Venus is auspicious.In the stars of Mercury,Jupiter and Venus it also becomes yogi.Use of diamond is beneficial especially if Venus is in its own sign and running period is of Venus itself. They may use Emerald along with diamond as a life time gem.

Libra: lagnesh Venus with mooltrikona sign in lagna has to be beneficial and hence diamond is suitable. In the stars of Venus and Saturn it is yogi. Venus when located in lagna itself gives malvaya yoga. One may use diamond along with Blue Sapphire.

Scorpio: Enemy of lagnesh and kendra lord Venus becomes malefic. There is no indication of wearing diamond for these natives.

More about Diamond

Usually ladies use diamond as part of jewellery without consulting an astrologer. It is a warning to everyone in such cases that the under surface of the diamond should be closed, if they are inclined to use diamond. It is never worn on poornima or prathami of Shukla paksha.

It is worn in gold or platinum ( more preferred). It is highly precious and the weight may range between 10cent to 20cent. Friday is best suited if it falls on Bharini, purvashada and P. phalguni stars. Timing is 10:30 – 12:00 hours and finger is third.

One should never use Ruby, Coral and Pukhraj along with diamond. The pooja should be done with white flowers and mantra “Om darang dareng darong sau shukraya nameh” should be recited ideally 16000 times. Articles to be donated are ghee, silken clothes, rice, etc. to young girls. In my opinion if one cannot afford a diamond or scared of its side effects they may use a big zircon or white sapphire (preferred).

Rahu and Ketu are two shadowy planets, that are actually not planets but the nodes. The ascending node or caput or Dragon’s head is Rahu, while the descending node or cauda or Dragon’s tail is Ketu. In Indian astrology Rahu is taken as second Saturn and ketu is taken as a second mars. In addition they also behave like the planets, which rule the sign where they are deposited. Rahu rules Gomedha and ketu rules Cat’s eye.

Who should wear them: Three conditions should be fulfilled.

In the major periods of Rahu/Ketu only.

When the placings are auspicious (as mentioned above) and they are aspected/conjuncted by functional malefics of horoscope i.e.,lords of 6, 8 and 12 houses.

Wearer is concerned with the above mentioned effects or want to ward off malefic influences.

How to Wear Them

(a) Gomedha. Weight minimum 6 Ratti. Finger is 2nd and metal is gold or silver. However, females prefer platinum ring in left hand on 2nd or 3rd finger and the males should use panchdhatu in the right hand.

The best time to wear is Saturday noon or midnight (night of Saturday/Sunday). The day falling or Ardra,Swati and Satabhisha stars is preferred.Mantra Om Bharang Bhareeng Bharong sau Rahuye namah” should be recited 18,000 times ideally, pooja should be performed with blue flowers and Chandan. Native should also donate sweets to crows and money to leprosy patients on the next day (if done at midnight) or same day(if done at noon). Inimical gems are Ruby, Pearl and Coral.

(b) Cat’ Eye. Minimum weight is 5 rattis and finger is 3rd. Metal is silver.Timing is same as for Gomedha while day preferred is Saturday falling as Aswini magha and Moola stars. The mantra is “Om prang preeng paroong sau Ketuye namah” and it should be recited 18,000 times ideally. Poooja should be done with red flowers and Chandan and one should donate food articles to stray dogs and offer service to elderly people. Inimical gem is none.

in my opinion these gems should not be preferred unless really needed. B3etter if we use depositor’s of nodes, if they are benefic in the lagana even in the major period of nodes. As already mentioned nodes have to behave in the same nature that is of their depositor, i.e., the lord of the si8gn when they are placed.
